[Lexington] Results from the 2009 Taste of the Bluegrass have once again named Kentucky Ale the “Best Beer” in the bluegrass! This award marks the 5th year in a row that Alltech’s Lexington Brewing company has taken home an award at this annual event. Alltech has taken the best beer the past 4 years, and won the Best Alcoholic Beverage distinction in 2005.
This award is just newest to add to the shelf for Alltech president and founder Pearse Lyons. “All 3 of Alltech’s Lexington Brewing Company’s beers were awarded either a Gold or a Silver medal at the 2009 World Beer Championships in Chicago this year as well,” said Lyons. “As the Official Beer of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games these awards, especially awards in the Bluegrass, are extremely important to us.”
Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Light and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale are Lexington's only locally-brewed beers. Located in the heart of downtown, Alltech’s Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company has been creating award-winning beers since 2000 when its flagship beer, Kentucky Ale, was released. Kentucky Light debuted in 2003, and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale completed Kentucky’s Triple Crown of Beers in 2006.
With the recent introduction of several new products including Pearse Lyons Reserve malt whiskey, which is being created for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, and a bourbon whiskey, the brewery is believed to be one of the only locations in the world where a brewery and distillery share the same site.
Alltech, the title sponsor of the 2010 Games, owns the Alltech’s Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company that produces Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Light, and Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Kentucky Ale products will be the exclusive beer available to the general public at the Kentucky Horse Park during the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are the world championships of eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and are held every four years. The Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines competed at a single site—both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park.
